Product Description From the Manufacturer Why Sanyo eneloop? Sanyo eneloop rechargeables can replace an entire kitchen drawer's worth of dry cell batteries You already know the benefits of using conventional rechargeable batteries. But Sanyo eneloop batteries have advantages over other rechargeables that put them a step ahead. Sanyo eneloop batteries are an excellent choice for your rechargeables because: * They can be used right after purchase * They consistenly yield high performance * They have a long shelf life with no loss of energy * They can be used everywhere * They are environmental friendly Self-Discharge: Why Conventional Rechargeables Don't Cut It Conventional rechargeable batteries have numerous advantages that make them great to use for your portable electronics. But they also come with certain disadvantages. After purchase, rechargeable batteries have to be charged before they can be used. And once charged, rechargeable batteries lose the stored energy rather fast. The charging takes quite long and rapid chargers are expensive. Not only that, but continuous charging or frequent charge to "top off" the lost energy (without complete discharge) can destroy the battery. All these negative attributes have one root-cause: self discharge. Self-discharge means that a charged battery slowly discharges itself without any equipment consuming any current. This is the reason for rechargeable batteries being sold in a discharged state. And this is the reason that keeping charged batteries for some time did not make any sense. When you needed them, the energy was gone. Sanyo eneloop batteries have an extremely low rate of self-discharge, which means they hold their stored energy for a very long time--charge your batteries once and put them in your kitchen drawer, and over a year from now you'll still be able to use them right away, without needing to charge them again.

Long Lasting Batteries September 5, 2010 J. Lail (United States) I have always used disposable batteries in my MP3 players. I got tired of waiting on sales so I ordered this four pack of rechargeable Sanyo Eneloop.
These things last much longer than the throw away batteries that I used to use. They charge very quickly too.
I am very happy with this purchase.
Making eneloop my new standard September 4, 2010 Michael T. Palmer I am in the process of switching all my battery-powered devices over to the AA- and AAA-sized eneloop batteries by Sanyo. Unlike regular NiMH batteries, they hold their charge well for a long time. This makes them suitable for marine and aviation handheld radios, which are usually backup radios and don't get frequent use. They also shine in regular rechargeable applications, such as large camera flashes like the Nikon SB600 and SB800, and have the additional advantage of not being dead when you need them just because you didn't charge them right before you left for your kid's school Christmas play. Ask me how I know. Oh, and I'm using the La Crosse BC-700 charger, which works great and gives better feedback on charge status than many other chargers.
Quite possibly the most Epic rechargeable battery that I've ever used! September 3, 2010 Michael T. Kinner I'm not the authority on rechargeable batteries, (I'll leave that to Candle Power Forums), but I will say that I am an extremely happy user. I now use these AA batteries for everything in the house. From flashlights to my wife's Nikon speedlight, they hold up very well and last much longer than anything else we have used.
I matched these batteries with the MAHA Powerex C-9000 charger and the combination works great.
Other thoughts: I wish the new style Eneloops (the 1500 charge cycle, HR-3UTGA / HR-4UTGA), were more widely available. When I called Sanyo USA, they said at this time, they are only available through Costco.
Also, I would have liked to see the 4 packs come with a plastic storage case.
Great performance, and I will buy more in the future.
The Best You Can Get! September 2, 2010 Susanna Standish (Salem, OR) These are the ONLY batteries my family uses! I bought the starter kit at Costco 3 years ago and after endless recharging they are still going strong!!! These batteries are especially good for our Wii system and controllers! My husband and I researched online and discovered that using a charging station for your remotes actually VOIDS your nintendo warrenty!!! Nintendo recommeds using rechargeable batteries such as these! LOVE them! GET them!
Cheap packaging! Order elsewhere. September 2, 2010 Aelver (Austin) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ordered these a while ago, finally got round to opening the package. Each battery has a small crimp/crack at the base, exposing the internals.
Packaging was just a thin plastic envelope. Too late to return now, but won't be buying from here again.
